Angry Bull Trails
Tenterfield – Adventure Tourism Destination
Phase 1 – Mountain Bike Trail Network
As part of the Tenterfield - Adventure Tourism Destination / Phase 1 – Mountain Bike Trail Network, Angry Bull Trails (ABT) will design and construct the most accessible and extensive mountain bike (MTB) trail network catering for all levels of riding, including adaptive and multi-purpose trails for a variety of users.
As the first year-round MTB destination of its size in Australia, ABT will put Tenterfield on the map as an iconic MTB riding destination.
Ultimately, ABT will build 174km of MTB trails all within 15km of Tenterfield. The project will be developed in a staged manner and initially the destination will include the development of 157km of MTB trails catering for all skill levels including trails for adaptive riders in three zones both close to town and further afield.
Tenterfield’s vibrant town centre with established accommodation, retail, food and beverage options, already has the key features of a trail town, and is the perfect setting to host a diverse mountain bike tourism market.
If you’re searching for a new MTB destination be sure to add the Tenterfield Mountain Bike Destination to your bucket list for 2025.
Over a week of unique riding experiences in 5 district zones showcasing the best Tenterfield has to offer
174km of single track
Over 60% of trails adaptive MTB friendly (partially-fully accessible)
Integrated with existing fire trail, cycleways or country roads
3.5 hrs drive from Brisbane, Gold Coast or Coffs Harbour
2.5 hrs drive from Byron Bay and North Coast, NSW
The ABT Mountain Bike Destination includes a variety of trail experiences, with some located in close proximity to the township, and others offering a back-country style opportunity a short drive from Tenterfield. Tenterfield is ideally positioned among some unique and stunning landforms, which offer excellent potential for a range of mountain biking trails and styles.
The proposed concept plan for the mountain bike destination includes five key development zones, which are based on the initial ABT proposal and the outcomes of the site assessments. Each of the proposed development zones offers a unique mountain biking experience, and combined together offer a diverse and exciting destination, which would cater for up to a week of unique riding for the enthusiast market.
